Back on the Beat

December 11, 2009

I received word today that I’m heading back to the newsroom. A year after the cuts that ripped through my industry — forcing me to go freelance, which can be hit or miss — I am once again a salaried journalist at a daily newspaper.

This time around it will be more writing, less desk work, and that’s fine with me. I haven’t been a reporter since 2000, when I became an editor, so it will be great to get out of the building and chase stories. I love to write. I’ve been doing it here for a long time, and sometimes I spell all the word correctly.

This doesn’t mean I’m done with all my sidelines. The other projects, the freelancing, the show, this site, will all continue. And I’m sure to have plenty of new, fresh material to work with.

Of course, this could all change if I get a call about this job.

  1. High five!

  2. That’s cool Kennedy, congrats on the new challenges ahead of you and best of luck with this chapter of your life.

  3. Woot. Wow, I’m not normally so concise so.

  8. Awesome! Heartfelt congratulations, my friend!

  9. They couldn’t have chosen a better person for the job. Way to go!
