All’s Well That Ends Well

December 2, 2009

Just a quick update: Home Depot came through with that $50 donation to a local shelter for troubled kids. You may recall the story. A few weeks back, I spent an hour in Home Depot, trying to exchange a faulty product, and was lied to, berated and yelled at by the staff for, apparently, not shopping correctly. I wrote about this, saying I would never shop there again, and a Home Depot person contacted me via Twitter to try to make things right. She wanted to give me a $50 gift card to lure me back to the store. I said no, and suggested the store donate the card instead. And they did.

Yes, some of the employees at my local store are tools, rude, obnoxious, terrible little people. But there are some good hearts higher up the food chain.

Meanwhile, we have priced out next spring’s projects — a deck and new kitchen cabinets — at another building centre down the street.
