Red Nose Day

March 13, 2009

It’s Red Nose Day in the U.K. today. In Canada, every day is Red Nose Day, for a variety of reasons. But today, in England and its neighbours, it’s Comic Relief, a fundraiser for various good causes, all built around making people laugh.

The fun won’t end after the TV presentation tonight, though. The crew at the Simply Syndicated podcast network has a special 24-hour monster comedy podcast adventure planned, beginning at midnight GMT or thereabouts. They’ll go right around the clock, offering live versions of their popular weekly shows: Movies You Should See (reportedly more than one of these), Make It So, The Definitive Word, Or Do You Think That’s Just Bollocks, and Richard and Allison’s Super-Happy Fun Time. Other treats are rumoured to include the return of Games You Should Play and Albums You Should Hear, plus a few special surprises.

Guests will be invited to call in, which is always a highlight of Simply Syndicated shows. It works best with Skype; if you don’t have Skype, what are you waiting for? Go ahead and download it. Later, you can call me up and I’ll tell you about morons and stuff.

The main site is at Simply Syndicated. Follow the links to the live feed. You can also tune in via Ustream; just search for Simply Syndicated.

If you tune in to the marathon, you can donate to Comic Relief instantly. It’s that simple. And you’ll laugh while you’re doing it. In fact, I guarantee you’ll laugh. I’ll give you my guarantee on that, with prizes for anyone who proves they didn’t laugh. First prize is a real live visit from me. Second prize is two visits. Third prize, I move in. Enjoy!

  1. Say, Weathereye, I hear that Starbase 66 will be doing a live show on the marathon at 10 am EST? Won’t that be fun for people to tune in for? đŸ˜‰
