You should watch this movie, and you should watch it now.
The plot will not take you by surprise. The title makes it pretty clear what it’s about, right? But the story has a few twists and turns, and a couple of “Whoah” moments, and a nifty final sequence that, while living up to the movie’s title, brings something new to the mix.
But what makes this film work is its style; it’s set in the early 1980s, and shot to look like it was made then. If you didn’t know this was a new film, you would be forgiven for thinking it was a forgotten horror nugget from that era. From the feathered hair to the too-tight jeans, from the vintage Walkman to the Fixx, this film is a solid homage to my formative horror years, and that’s why I loved it.
